Car Insurance Empty Car Insurance

Post by Carry Bean Fri Apr 29, 2016 2:17 pm

I have to renew my car insurance by May 27 & I don't get why full coverage goes up every year as the car ages. It's the reverse in my experience elsewhere.

For a 2010 Honda Fit, Parker now wants $7503.84 which seems really high to me. Who do you use?

I also use Parker and that does seem high. Perhaps they are including some coverage that you don't need and/or the coverage is far beyond what is required/needed. Do a review of the policy with them.

My 2005 Plymouth Voyager van is only about $4500 per year.

We use Bellon. We have a Toyota Rav 4 2005 and every year for several years the costs has gone down with the car getting older.
It was a little over 3,000 pesos this year.
We had previously been with the insurance company mentioned but they just kept getting more expensive, so we switched to Bellon. Much cheaper for total coverage.

2013 Fit used S&S autos for insurance. They had rates for four companies. 6500P or so if I remember correctly for lowest rate which I took. Some were much higher.

I'm going to check with Bellon and S&S before I renew this. I know last year Bellon told me the price goes up as the car gets older & I thought he was crazy. I guess not. I'll go elsewhere even if I can only knock the price down 2-300 pesos. I hate feeling I'm getting ripped off.

Just got my renewal quote from Bellon for a Qualitas policy for a 2010 Honda CR-V. No changes in coverages, but the cost increased by exactly 20%, including Collision/Loss premiums up 14% and Liability premium up by 103%. I was previously with another Agency in another state and the premium did increase each year, but this year it seems especially steep.

Carry, take a deep breath. That's only $436 USD a year. I was paying nearly that a month NOB.

Qualitas here too. I know it's cheaper than up North but it's still stupid to increase when the car is getting older. After all, if my car is totaled they're not going to pay as much for a 6 year old car as they would for a one year old model. Here's the letter. It's gone up over 700 pesos.

I would like to remind you about the car insurance for the 2010 Honda Fit,
which is due for renewal on May 27, 2016.

The quote with Qualitas would be $ 7,503.84 pesos full coverage same as the last year policy.

Now we are also offering HDI Seguros a German company with 78 on the market, which offers the same coverages and quote as Qualitas for $ 7,503.84 pesos with an excellent service, local & Guad workshops, bilingual adjuster plus the following free benefits and guarantees:

* Engraving of vin number on crystals and mirrors to reduce the deductible in case of total theft from 10% to 0%
* Transportation service in case of drunkenness.
* Cosmetic surgery for injuries caused by car accident only for woman.
* Lifetime warranty on auto body and paint repairs.
* Guarantee of payment in 2 days in case of total loss or will give you $ 1,000 pesos per day of delay.

Please let me know if you would like to renew it and what company.
Thank you, Parker Agency/ MArisa

NOTE: WE HAVE CHANGED THE COLOR OF THE BUILDING TO WHITE AND GREEN.

Car Insurance Empty Re: Car Insurance

Post by elgringo Sat Apr 30, 2016 7:01 am

I have used Parker and I am going to switch in May. I have had a few things come up with them that bothers me. When it came up for renewal last year I got a quote from them for Qualitas again. I went to another agent and got a Qualitas quote from them too and it was 2800 pesos cheaper than Parker. Upon checking Parker had been charging me for a 4x4 not 4x2. When I asked about it it they said Qualitas did not have a 4x2 option. It was not till I told them I was switching Agents did they find a 4x2 rating. But when I asked about a refund since they had been overcharging me for two years of course it was no.
Second I have full Coverage which is what I asked for. Not until someone stole my tailgate, tail lights and hubs at a cost of 21,000 pesos did Parker tell me that my full coverage does not cover theft. huh? no, seems if you ask for full coverage it does not cover theft unless you ask specifically for it.

Interesting.

You have to carefully read your policies to know what is really covered. I had a policy with a woman here several years ago, full coverage, time for renewal one year I finally read the small print only to find out any foreign plated car with expired foreign plates was not insurable per their fine print on the policy. If I had been in a crash I would have been SOL. Yet this woman wrote me year after year until I figured it out. I tried to confront her but by that time she was so sick she couldn't work.

Parker underwrites with Qualitas (unless they stopped) and a German company HDI Seguros whom I know NOTHING about and I was encouraged to choose.

Has anyone had a claim with HDI Seguros/Parker??? How did it go???

Has always treated me right. Communicates well, answers any questions and from what others have told me through their experiences is a huge help if there is an accident. I've always dealt with him by email, but I know he makes house calls as well.

I've never had a problem using S&S as a broker. At each renewal they give me quotes from 2 or 3 companies. When I had a significant claim they stayed on top of the repair, even emailing photos of the progress.
One thing to remember about car insurance in Mexico. When you get, say, 10% deductible, it's not 10% of the repair cost, it's 10% of the total value of the car. Big difference!

That's odd that Bellon said the older the car is, the more the insurance would be. My costs gets less each year as the car gets older. Maybe the quote was higher for an older car because the peso is weak now and the dollar is strong, thus higher peso price at this time.

O&A Investments AND INSURANCE.  They are in the lower level of Centro Laguna Mall directly across from WalMart, between Black Coffee and HSBC bank.

Their rates were very competitive with other local brokers.

Everyone there speaks excellent English and are very helpful.

They even provide a 24 hr. phone number to their company - not just to the Insurance company, that is answered in English.

That's what I meant when I said Lloyd's.... my error, sorry. The O'Rourke's used to own Lloyds then sold to Actinver and there was a non competition clause on the Investment part. So they concentrated on Insurance instead and now the non competition period is over...so Investments and Insurance. They certainly do know what customer service is and it would have been a bonus if they had taught it to Actinver.
