Narcotic painkillers
A relative of ours will soon be coming back to lakeside after her operation in Canada. Unfortunately, the operation was not a success, and she has some mobility issues and considerable pain, mostly managed with medication. Some of this medication is in the 'group I' of controlled substances in Mexico.
Now it seems that it would be impossible for her to bring more than one month's supply of these meds. This means finding a local source, so I need to find a doctor that could prescribe this type of medication for her.
I have read about the recent change in procedures in obtaining these prescriptions; apparently it is easier for doctors to access the new online forms, though a CURP might be required. In her case, the CURP should not be an issue, as I believe she has a RT visa.
I will need to contact a doctor to find out what medical documentation might be necessary (prescriptions, scans, etc.)
If anybody can reccomend a doctor that can help in such a situation, or relate personal experiences about obtaining this type of medication, I would appreciate.
Thanks,
Pete

Re: Narcotic painkillers
Chapala Med has an ANESTHESIOLOGIST who is also a PAIN SPECIALIST who sees patients along with myself in my Chapala Office.
Dr. Evelyn Rodriguez has very successfully been treating patients with chronic pain that others locally have not been able to help. She was highly recommended by the head of Anesthesiology & Pain management at HOSPITAL CIVIL in GUAD.
CURP numbers are NOT needed on the scripts although the new scripts have a blank space for them to be filled in with that number.

I use ChapalaMed and their specialists for pain management. The results were exceptional and the duration of relief above what would normally be expected.

Re: Narcotic painkillers
Thanks everyone for your answers.
It seems our friend was able to secure a few months' worth of her medication from her Canadian pharmacy. This should give her some time to find a source locally. Opinions of the doctors I have queried vary considerably. Some have said no problem, others said these meds were very difficult to obtain.
Will update here with her experience once she gets here.
Thanks,
Pete

Yes some are not made anymore. You can go to Pisa.com.mx and there is an option for English it is a lab that makes many pain meds. Pumps. Etc
