Re: Tinaca 101
Back in 2009 the pump serving the Haciendas went out and it 10 days or so to get parts for repair. Many of our neighbors have only a tinaco and had to buy water for delivery. We have a aljibe, tinaco, pressure system and purification system. I think 2 pumps......I've never been on the roof.....fear of heights....LOL.
When they finally got it repaired we still had plenty of water. The down side is the pumps burn a lot of power, which makes CFE happy!

Re: Tinaca 101
That is similar to the systems in the two houses we rented prior to purchasing. The system I have now just has an aljibe and pressure tank. Hasn't been a problem yet and if there is a power outage I can flip a valve for straight municipal pressure albeit it bypasses my purification system.

Re: Tinaca 101
you never said well and yes for that you need a pump and a pressure tank like i had in millet.i said the same thing as rv, that if you are on town water it gets pumped into both units in your house from the street and you only need to use a pump sporadically when you use all the water in your tinaco. since we doubled the size of our tinaco we have not had to do that. next time yer by here i'll show you of what i speak. i was at a friends in el chante years ago and they were on a well with pump and pressure tank and they were having a huge party and all of a sudden no water, toilets etc. if they had a tinaco there would have been no problem.CanuckBob wrote:Again you seem to only know of your own situation and speak like it is the only way. The two houses I am referring to were on well systems not municipal. There was a pump between the aljibe and the tinaco.

Re: Tinaca 101
RV said his tinaco was only for back-up purposes therefore his pump would have kept the pressure tank pressurized regularly, not sporadically. I know exactly what your system is. Your type of system had nothing at all to do with my question.
Re: Tinaca 101
True, Bob. An added detail: Our pump was submersible and located in the aljibe, several inches above the bottom. As such, it was silent and always ran cool. In the event of no water, it shut off automatically and the pressure valve from the tinaco released, allowing it to supply water by gravity.
