There was a big one in Guadalajara just now,everybody's out in the street.

First one I've felt since moving from LA,scared the heck out of my wife.

Damage? Injuries?

And USGS site says......4.5 quake located 11km W of Ixtlahuacán del Rios.

They're saying on the local news 4.8 no big deal,especially if you grew up in Los Angeles.

Thanks! I'm in the boonies nada on tv.

Not a big deal, I'm sure, but exciting from this kid from the midwest, who has never felt an earthquake before. Nice that our introduction was pretty minor. :)

We felt it in upper Ajijic.

Faults in the middle of Mexico ...... usually just offshore

It was funny. I had just got back from Chiapas this afternoon. I was exhausted so was in bed taking a late siesta....then....bump!....

I knew from experience it was an earthquake, but decided to check the clock to confirm later. 5:36pm on my clock. Then I rolled over and closed my eyes again.

I experienced my first earthquake in.....Ohio! It was July 1986 and was 4.9. Woke everyone up in the sleepy little town of Wapakoneta. That was when I discovered there was a fault line about five miles south of Wapak.

Oh, and I did feel yesterdays quake. Husband said it was just thunder although I felt differently. This was in Chapala Haciendas.

We moved from KC in Missouri. Read many stories about the New Madrid fault and associated quakes in 1811-12. Always wondered if it might happen again and hoped we wouldn't be around as it would be devastating with modern day population centers around the area.

Isn't the New Madrid fault along the Mississippi?

In the Missouri bootheel area. When the big quake hit, it rang church bells in Boston and made the Mississippi river run backward!

Dang. This afternoon I noticed a broken wall mirror in the guest bedroom's bathroom, which I rarely go into. Jumped right off the wall I guess. Whoops!
